Click image to enlarge Clinicians will be able to search and/or add drug allergies during an interactions screening, helping to improve screening efforts. Screening results are now displayed by interaction type (drug-drug, drug-allergy, and duplicate therapy interactions). Additional enhancements include: Risk Rating Legend – located at the top of the analysis page, this offers a description of the five-tiered risk ratings, which help inform decisions on whether the treatment benefits outweigh the interaction risks Filter Results by Drug or Drug Allergy Interaction – user can filter results to view interactions by drug or drug allergy Jump to Section – users can jump to the drug-drug, drug-allergy, or duplicate therapy interaction results Click image to enlarge ENHANCED: Pharmacogenomics Content Lexicomp databases contain three new fields for pharmacogenomics information, which identify whether gene testing is required, recommended, or to be considered for specific drug therapy. These new fields are grouped with a fourth existing field, titled "Other Genes of Interest," to include information about emerging pharmacogenetic factors in drug therapy. In Lexicomp Online, this information is displayed in the left navigation panel under a new "Pharmacogenomics" heading. Reference links within the drug monograph instantly take the user to detailed content within the Lexicomp proprietary Pharmacogenomics database. Click image to enlarge Enhanced pharmacogenomics content helps clinicians determine if gene testing is required or recommended for certain medications, with links to more in-depth information. NEW: Natural Product Patient Education Leaflets Now, clinicians can also access and distribute patient education leaflets on natural products. The Lexicomp Patient Education module offers approximately 140 leaflets on natural products, such as Ginkgo, Echinacea, St. John's Wort, and more. Fields of information in these leaflets include: ■  Name - Some natural products have other common names. Leaflets include a suppressed index list (not a visible field) of those terms so that clinicians are linked to the correct monograph when entering an alternative common name. For example, Aloe is also known as Aloe Vera, Burn Plant, Elephant's Gall, and more; entering any of these terms will lead to the same Aloe leaflet. ■  What is this product used for? ■  What are the precautions when taking this product? ■  What should I watch for? ■  When do I need to call the doctor? ■  Where can I learn more? - This information is provided only if reputable resources are available. Natural product leaflets are initially available in English, with Spanish translations to come later. NEW: 50% More Lab Patient Education Leaflets At the request of Lexicomp customers, we have added new patient education leaflets on lab tests not previously available in the Patient Education module. We have increased the number of lab test leaflets by 50%. The module now includes: ■  Fasting Glucose ■  Drug Peak and Trough levels ■  Hepatitis Markers ■  Lyme ■  And many more! ENHANCED: Food Interactions Field Drug-food interaction content within drug monographs has been enhanced and streamlined into a single Food Interactions field. This field only appears in monographs for which it is relevant and includes information on drug-nutrition interactions and how ethanol may affect the pharmacokinetics of a drug. Users can access the Lexi-Interact drug interactions screening module for a greater depth of interactions content, including drug-herbal interactions and how ethanol may affect disease states. COMING SOON: Updated and Streamlined Pediatric Patient Education To create an easier and more streamlined flow of information to your patients, we will be updating certain section names and re-ordering some of those sections within pediatric Patient Education leaflets. We will also be adding certain statements to every leaflet for more consistent messaging across your pediatric patient population. These changes will begin appearing in May.
