The library now has access to the Cochrane Library from Wiley. The library has subscribed to the Cochrane databases through Ovid in the past. Beginning in January 2013, the library will not have access to the Ovid version of the Cochrane Databases. We will continue with the Wiley Cochrane Library.
What is the Cochrane Library?
It contains seven databases related to evidence based healthcare. A description of the databases follow:
Cochrane Database of Systematic ReviewsConsists of reviews produced by the Cochrane Collaboration. Each review identifies an intervention or specific disease or other problem in healthcare and determines whether or not this intervention works by reviewing the results of research from randomized controlled trials.
Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE)
DARE contains abstracts of reviews of systematic reviews. The abstracts give a quality assessment of a variety of systematic reviews.
Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials
Includes details of published trials taken from bibliographic databases and other published resources.
Cochrane Methodology RegisterA bibliography of publications that report on methods used when conducting controlled trials, studies of methods used in reviews, and more general methodological studies. Includes journal articles, books, and conference proceedings.
Health Technology Assessment Database
Contains details of completed and ongoing health technology assessments of the medical, social, ethical, and economic implications of healthcare interventions.
NHS Economic Evaluation DatabaseEconomic evaluations from around the world. Studies are evaluated for quality and relative strengths and weaknesses are highlighted.
