ENHANCED: Updated Formulary Monograph Service
Interface
Subscribers to the Formulary
Monograph Service (FMS) will now be able to access information on
recently released and investigational drugs in a new, convenient
interface that looks and feels like Lexicomp Online. The more
user-friendly navigation is designed to provide a better overall
experience within your Lexicomp workflow.
To access the FMS module,
click the Formulary Monograph Service button on the blue toolbar atop
every page of Lexicomp Online. It opens a drop-down menu with four
options:

Reviews (P and T Reviews) – full monographs

Summary Reviews – summary
monographs

Drug Use Evaluations (DUEs)
– forms to evaluate a given drug's use

monthly digests summarizing the new monographs and DUEs that have been

Each drop-down option will
display an index for users to search for the review or DUE they are
seeking.
NEW: Summary Pharmacogenomics Monographs
Lexicomp users will now be
able to efficiently connect to point-of-care pharmacogenomics information
for specific drugs with new summary pharmacogenomics monographs.
Through Lexicomp, Clinical
Drug Information has long been at the forefront of providing
pharmacogenomics content and helping professionals incorporate this
emerging and growing field into their practice. Summary pharmacogenomics
monographs facilitate quicker access to actionable content, focusing on a
single drug or drug class. Monographs include the following:

Quality of evidence rating
and management considerations emphasized at the top of every monograph

Management section providing
more information on the drug or class
|
|

Focused summary discussion
of scientific and clinical studies data relevant to the drug or class

Links to the related
monograph from our in-depth pharmacogenomics database, which will
continue to discuss details about the relevant gene, including
incidence, variability across population, pathophysiologic information,
and more

Summary pharmacogenomics
monographs can also be accessed through direct Infobutton links in an EMR
or from integrated drug-gene contraindications clinical screening alerts.

ENHANCED: New Monograph Fields
Lexicomp has added and updated
fields to monographs in its Lexi-Drugs core drug information database:

Approval Date –
Provides the date of a drug’s FDA approval.

Updated – Provides the date that
Clinical Drug Information last updated the monograph.

Hazardous
Drugs Handling Considerations
– Information on hazardous drug handling has now been consolidated in a
single field. Based on National Institute for Occupational Safety and
Health (NIOSH) criteria, the field includes information to assist with
receiving, handling, administering, or disposing of hazardous drugs. It
is included in monographs for 300 drugs on the NIOSH list of hazardous
agents that require special handling considerations, as well as in
monographs for new and similar drugs that meet NIOSH criteria. (Field
includes statements to confirm if monograph is for a NIOSH-listed drug
or one that met extrapolated criteria.)

CHANGE: Removal of Web Search Feature
Please note that the Web
Search feature has been removed from the More Clinical Tools drop-down
menu on the blue toolbar in Lexicomp Online. For additional sources
outside Lexicomp, please use the Other Clinical Links option on the More
Clinical Tools menu for quick access to professional healthcare industry
websites.
