Enhancements to LexiComp Online

Facts & Comparisons Off-Label Database Provides Off-label Uses and Context
Lexicomp Online users now have easy access to important off-label drug treatment information and valuable context surrounding those uses. Drug monographs in the Lexi-Drugs® core drug information database now feature a field titled "Use: Off-Label." That field provides summary information on more than 1200 off-label uses, along with level of evidence ratings.

For more in-depth information on off-label uses, users can click the link to the Facts & Comparisons Off-Label database from the off-label uses field within relevant monographs. The Facts & Comparisons Off-Label database offers key research data, including:
■
Evidence rating
■
Therapy Considerations
■
Rationale
■
Population
■
Dosing Studied
■
Discussion
■
Guidelines
■
Risk/Benefit Considerations
■
Controlled & Uncontrolled Studies
■
Case Reports

Both U.S. and international publications are considered for inclusion of off-label content.

Unsupported Use Section
Within relevant monographs, a new "Unsupported Use" section will describe certain indications for medications that are no longer supported by the literature. It will also provide additional details when appropriate.

VisualDx Drug Eruption Content Integrated into Drug Monographs
To help clinicians visually confirm allergic reactions that appear on the skin due  to medications, Lexicomp Online now features drug eruption content from VisualDx®.  Links to VisualDx images are integrated directly into relevant monographs within Lexi-Drugs®.

VisualDx content is available within more than 400 drug monographs, or it can be accessed via a button on the blue tool bar at the top of every page. It includes images and data to help identify drug-induced conditions of the skin, helps clinicians identify appropriate ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes, and provides additional related information, such as supportive patient care and therapy options. Clinicians also can link directly to drug eruption content in the Warnings and Precautions field of information.

Detailed FDA Boxed Warnings Content
Based on user feedback, Lexicomp Online has improved its "Alert: U.S. Boxed Warning" field at the top of all relevant drug monographs to include detailed text, including some verbatim language of the FDA boxed warning specific to that drug.

Lexicomp Online has long featured alerts of boxed warnings prominently at the top of monographs, along with general links to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website for more information. To help improve efficiency and enhance user experience, monographs now feature detailed text of boxed warnings, allowing clinicians to get the information they need directly from the monograph without having to link out and search the FDA website.
