Lexicomp Online has added a new Advanced Life Support Neonatal Calculation that will provide both weight-based dosing and volumes to be administered in one easy-to-read table! Dosing is based on the Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Guidelines.
The following drugs are included in the new report: adenosine, amiodarone, atropine, calcium chloride, calcium gluconate, dextrose, epinephrine, lidocaine, magnesium sulfate, naloxone, procainamide, and sodium bicarbonate. Selected administration notes are also included to guide the clinician in the proper administration of these agents during an emergency.
Like the adult and pediatric emergency drug calculators, the Advanced Life Support Neonatal calculation is able to be printed and placed on a patient chart or at the bedside for immediate use in an emergency situation. This calculator will be available for use online and on all handheld platforms with the Lexi-CALC™ module.
Additionally, Lexicomp has enhanced the Advanced Life Support Pediatric Calculator to estimate weight based on length and body habitus when the actual weight is unknown. This allows for more accurate dosing when the weight is not available. These calculators will now be available for use on all handheld platforms with the Lexi-CALC module.
