Talking with Your Older Patient

If you need a refresher in communicating with older patients, check out National Institute on Aging’s Talking with Your Older Patient. The booklet gives tips on the best way to communicate with the elderly – speak slowly, clearly and face the patient. It is also helpful to write information such as diagnoses and medications down. There is also a chapter devoted to talking about sensitive topics with resources listed for more information. This is an extremely practical and helpful booklet.
